Speedway is returning to Northampton as Northampton Foxes join the sport’s top flight for the new season.

Their first league fixture is away at King’s Lynn in April, before welcoming Ipswich for their home debut.

Operating at the Northampton International Shaleway near Brafield, the Foxes are to compete in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership – the top level of the sport in the UK.

British Speedway says work is currently ongoing at the venue in order to complete the necessary infrastructure modifications to ensure speedway’s compatibility along with the top-line stock car racing already staged there.

The club is under the ownership of a consortium made up of representatives from the current Premiership structure, along with additional external investment.

The consortium are set to appoint two promoters to oversee the running of the club on a day-to-day basis, and subject to checks and approval from British Speedway Promoters Ltd, these promoters will be Paul Hunsdon and Tony Gaul.
