Two men have been sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison for their involvement in supplying Class A drugs through a Northampton-based line named "Joey."

Joab Mugugu, from Javelin Avenue, Birmingham, received a five-year sentence after admitting to charges related to the supply of Class A drugs at Northampton Crown Court on 29th May.

His co-defendant, Kadeem Hodge, previously sentenced to four years on 30th January, for similar charges, was linked to the same drug operation from October 2023 to the beginning of last year.

Police investigations conducted by Northamptonshire Police’s Operation Revive West team identified the "Joey" drug line, following which a search of Hodge's residence in December 2023 uncovered the line's handset and a large amount of cocaine.

Hodge was found with another handset connected to the drug line during a stop-search in July 2024 at a Northampton supermarket.

A further search in January 2025 led to arrests when Hodge and Mugugu were found with significant quantities of heroin and cocaine.

Mobile phone evidence revealed marketing messages and conversations discussing the financial gains of the operation.

Subsequent raids on their homes unearthed more drugs and paraphernalia linked to the operation.

A Northamptonshire spokesperson stated: “Drug harm remains a priority area for the Force, and we will continue to tenaciously enforce and disrupt drug dealers who prey on the most vulnerable. I am pleased with the sentences handed to both Hodge and Mugugu.”
