A 25-year-old man has been jailed for more than five years following a warrant executed by the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team.

On the morning of August 13 this year, a warrant was issued for Salman Uddin’s address in Vienne Close, Duston, after the team received intelligence that drug dealing could be taking place there.

Inside the property, a quantity of Class A and B drugs were discovered, alongside cash, weapons and drug dealing paraphernalia.

Uddin was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and one count of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

After pleading guilty to the offences at Northampton Crown Court in August, Uddin returned to the same court last week (September 25) where he was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison.

PC Lydia Chamberlain from Northampton’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“First of all I’d like to thank the local community in Duston for reporting these issues to us. It was as a result of their engagement with us which led to this warrant being secured.

“As a team, we are really passionate about not only listening to our local residents’ concerns but also really hearing what they have to say and acting on their reports.

“I hope this case demonstrates that determination and we will continue working hard to put more people like Salman Uddin behind bars.”
