A 26-year-old man has been jailed for over two years after admitting to a violent assault on his ex-partner in Northampton.

On 17th March 2024, Bradley Stuart Marshall launched a prolonged attack inside a property on Adnitt Road, accusing the woman of seeing another man.

During the 45-minute assault, Marshall punched the victim repeatedly, dragged her off the sofa and around the floor, and attempted to hit her head against a step.

He also smashed her mobile phone, preventing her from calling for help.

The victim eventually managed to escape and ran to a nearby main road where a passerby allowed her to use their phone to call 999.

Marshall, of no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with assault and criminal damage.

After pleading guilty at Northampton Crown Court in September, he returned to the same court on 21st October, where he was sentenced to two years and three months behind bars.

PC Sam Whitaker of the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“I am really pleased to see Marshall sent to prison for this awful attack and although no sentence can erase the distress this woman felt during the assault, I hope she can take some comfort in this conviction and deliverance of justice.

“Tackling violence against women and girls remains a priority for Northamptonshire Police and we will continue working hard - across every team and department - to put more people like Bradley Marshall behind bars.”
