Northampton mortuary project enters final stages
Work at Riverside Business Park is nearing completion
Construction of the new mortuary at Riverside Business Park in Northampton is entering its final stages, with the facility expected to open in early spring.
The project has seen steady progress, with interior rooms now defined, specialist equipment being installed, and external works such as access roads and parking areas nearing completion.
Once finished, the mortuary will bring post-mortem and related services together in one location for the first time in Northamptonshire. The project aims to reduce delays and unnecessary travel, and to provide modern spaces designed with privacy and support for families.
West Northamptonshire Council says the development is a significant investment in local services.
Cllr Andrew Last, Cabinet Member for Corporate HR and Regulatory Services at West Northamptonshire Council, said:
“Seeing this project reach the final stages is genuinely uplifting. Walking through the building now, you can really see how far we’ve come and what this new mortuary will mean for families across the county.
''This has been a long-awaited and much-needed investment, and the progress reflects our commitment to providing dignified, modern and compassionate services for our residents.”
