Man sentenced to 17 years for child sexual offences in Wellingborough
Investigation by specialist police unit led to arrest and conviction of Klein Chinoda
A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after being convicted of multiple child sexual offences, including rape.
Klein Chinoda, formerly of Wellingborough, carried out a series of sexual assaults against a young girl between April and June 2023.
The case was investigated by specialist officers from the SOLAR Team within Northamptonshire Police. Their inquiry resulted in Chinoda’s arrest and subsequent charges, which included seven counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of possessing indecent images of a child, and one count of rape.
Ahead of his trial, Chinoda admitted guilt to all charges except rape, which was contested in court. Following a four-day trial at Northampton Crown Court, a jury found him guilty of the remaining offence on December 12.
He returned to the same court on March 20, where he was handed a 17-year custodial sentence.
Lead investigator - DC Rachel Morrison from the Force’s SOLAR Team said:
“I am really pleased with this significant sentence as it sends a strong message that the police and the courts take sexual offences extremely seriously.
“The survivor in this case has been incredibly brave and I hope, with Chinoda safely behind bars, that she can now move forward and learn to enjoy life again. I wish her the very best.”
