A 37-year-old man has been jailed for more than three years after admitting child sex offences.

Earlier this year, Ashley Brian Evans used Facebook to befriend someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.

Evans engaged in inappropriate conversations, requesting indecent photos and images of her in a school uniform.

He also sent an explicit video of himself and tried to start inappropriate chats.

However, the person he believed was a child turned out to be an adult.

Northamptonshire Police were informed, and he was arrested.

Appearing in court, he faced charges of attempting to cause a child to watch a person engaging in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity, and possession of Class A drugs.

At a hearing on 12th December at Northampton Crown Court, he was sentenced to three years and four months behind bars.

Detective Constable Jon Brawn from Northamptonshire Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team highlighted the significance of the case.

“I hope this case demonstrates the consequences of attempting to engage a child in sexual chat online,” Detective Brawn said.

“If you are caught - and you will be eventually - you will end up in prison. We have had some really good results this year in our team and we plan to be just as determined and relentless in 2026.”
