Man jailed after sexual offences against teenage girl in Wellingborough

A 51-year-old has been sentenced to more than six years in prison following offences in the town centre.

A man has been jailed for six years and six months after being convicted of sexual offences against a teenage girl in Wellingborough.

Marian Barbu, 51, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court after a jury found him guilty of two offences involving a girl aged between 13 and 15.

The offences took place in and around Market Square during the early hours of 3 June 2025.

Barbu was also handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting contact with children under 16.
