A man has died after being involved in an incident with a waste lorry while sheltering in a bin.
The waste management company responsible for the lorry, Veolia, released a statement saying they were "deeply saddened" by the tragic event and extended their condolences to the man’s loved ones.
The incident occurred during the winter months, a time when reports of people seeking shelter in bins increase.
The company said its driver "acted quickly at the scene" and confirmed they had cooperated fully with police during their investigation.
The firm added: "We will continue to work with colleagues and clients to raise awareness of this."
A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police officers were called to an incident involving a bin lorry in Wellington Street, Northampton, just after 3am on October 31.
“Sadly, a man sustained serious injuries as a result and died on November 6.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and we have prepared a report for the coroner. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”
