A man from Northampton has been found guilty of 13 child sex offences.

An investigation was launched in 2022 after multiple survivors of Ryan Clarkson’s abuse came forward.

The 26-year-old was charged with a total of 20 offences, including six counts of raping a child under 13 and three of rape.

Police said Clarkson, of Swain Court, committed the offences when he was aged between 10 and 18, with his behaviour escalating.

Following a trial at Leicester Crown Court, the jury found him guilty on Monday (8 December) of 13 offences.

He was convicted of six counts of raping of a child under 13 years, two counts of assault by penetration of a child under 13 years, four counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 years and one count of sexual activity with a child.

He was found not guilty of seven offences.

Detective Constable Evie Mugridge from the Force’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit, who led the investigation, said: “This has been an exceptionally complex case, and I would like to praise the survivors who have showed immense strength throughout.

“Their bravery is undeniable and although nothing can ever erase what Ryan Clarkson did, I hope they can take some comfort in the fact that because of their courage, a sexual predator is now behind bars.

“In the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, we are so passionate about protecting our children in Northamptonshire. We will always take reports of sexual abuse seriously and we will always do everything we can to bring the offenders to justice.”
