Man charged with murder after serious assault in Northampton
Recent assault in Northampton leads to murder charge
A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder following a serious assault in Northampton.
Emergency services were called out to the Old Bank in St Giles' Square in the early hours of Sunday (5 July).
Louie Oliver, from Sywell, is accused of attacking 59-year-old Paul Hughes inside the pub at around 2am.
Following the assault, Mr Hughes was hospitalised but died as a result of his injuries on Monday (6 July).
Oliver is scheduled to appear before Northampton Magistrates’ Court today, 8th July.
In connection with the same incident, a 23-year-old man from Northampton was also arrested but has since been released on police bail pending further investigations.
