The northbound carriageway of the M1 remains closed as officials investigate a serious collision involving four vehicles.

The incident occurred at around 9.45pm last night (Tuesday, 4th August ) between Junctions 16 and 17.

Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the affected sections from Junctions 16 to 18.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are examining the scene and are asking anyone who travelled on this part of the M1 at that time to come forward if they witnessed the incident or have dash-cam footage.

Appeal for Dash-Cam Footage

Investigators are particularly interested in dash-cam recordings from either direction on the M1 between Junctions 16 and 17, taken between 9.45pm and 10.05pm on Tuesday, 4th August.

They emphasise that even footage that might initially appear insignificant could be crucial to the investigation.
