Investigation launched after two badgers found dead in Yarwell
Police want to hear from witnesses
Police in Northamptonshire are appealing for witnesses after two badgers were found dead in Yarwell.
The animals were found inside a carrier bag on a footpath off Wansford Road by a member of the public on 4th July 2026.
Northamptonshire Police’s Rural Crime Team is urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
Rural Crime Officer PC Chloe Gillies highlighted the importance of protecting wildlife under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, noting that it is illegal to harm these animals.
"The circumstances in which the badgers were found have understandably caused upset to the member of the public who discovered them as well as the wider wildlife community," Gillies said.
"We are committed to finding those responsible and would like to hear from anyone who could provide information to help identify the offenders," she added.
