A man from Northampton has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison after secretly installing cameras in various homes and workplaces.

Jean-Pierre Francis, 33, was brought to the attention of Northamptonshire Police in May 2024 when a woman discovered a hidden camera in her bedroom.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department launched an investigation, identifying Francis as the suspect and seizing his devices.

Upon analysing his equipment, officers discovered hundreds of videos and images captured by Francis between 2015 and 2025.

The cameras were concealed in everyday items such as USB sticks, plugs, and even a shower gel bottle.

Six women, aged between their 20s and 60s, were victims of his invasive crimes.

Francis faced six counts of voyeurism and pleaded guilty at Northampton Crown Court on 13th March.

He was sentenced in the same court on 17th April and received a destruction order for all devices used to commit the offences.

Additionally, Francis was issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, prohibiting him from owning any phone with a camera or any recording device.

He will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for the rest of his life.

Detective Constable Georgia Sampson, the lead investigator, emphasised the seriousness of Francis' actions, saying:

“Jean-Pierre Francis carried out sustained and deeply invasive offending, abusing everyday technology to violate the privacy of his victims in places where they should have felt safest.

“Our priority throughout this investigation was to give the victims a voice and to ensure their experiences were taken seriously. I hope the conclusion of this case allows them to move forward."
