Northampton Saints Foundation is running a programme in schools and colleges to help young people prepare for the future.

Coaches use rugby values to help pupils build their confidence and engage with learning. It's aimed at pupils aged 7-16 years old who are disengaged with education and in need of additional support.

For a maximum of 15 hours per week, young people visit one of their hubs across Northampton, Corby, Kettering and Milton Keynes to take part in a wide range of social, emotional and mental health development opportunities. The foundation says this creates an environment that is specific to addressing the pupil's individual needs and challenges.

By taking them out of their everyday lives and engaging them in a range of activities, the foundation says they "are able to see improvements in their confidence, self-esteem, and communication skills, providing them with essential tools to break down barriers and face life's challenges".

Craig Phillips from the foundation says its to encourage young people to focus on their career goals: "We're almost coming in as an extra curricular intervention where we're able to have that time to focus on employability skills. Looking at building and writing CVs, as well as getting them understanding I suppose your journey to work which is obviously everything in terms of the application to the job interview."
