Fire crews tackle significant blaze at Brackley medical facility
Patients evacuated safely from Wellington Road site
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a serious fire at a medical facility on Wellington Road in Brackley just before 11.10pm last night.
Firefighters arrived to find a significant blaze had ignited on a second-floor balcony and spread into the roof space.
Six fire appliances, including an aerial appliance, attended the scene with support from Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue services.
Twelve patients were evacuated to safety within the building prior to the firefighters' arrival, with no reported casualties.
Crews, equipped with breathing apparatus, utilised multiple hose-reel jets, main jets, and an aerial appliance to combat the fire.
Measures were also implemented within the building to minimise water damage, thus reducing the impact on the medical centre's services.
Fire Service officers left the scene around 4.30am this morning, ensuring that the facility could reopen safely today.
A fire investigation is scheduled to take place today to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Area Manager Neil Sadler noted the scale and complexity of the incident, requiring coordinated efforts among fire services across three counties and support from EMAS and healthcare partners.
