A campaign group say they'll continue to fight to keep a green space in Daventry

It's after West Northants Council decided not to sell the Eastern Way Playing field land to fund regeneration of the town.

Proposals for homes there had featured in the Daventry Masterplan, though consultations brought concerns to the attentions of local authority planners.

Campaign group member Elizabeth Scott says they realise from similar cases locally that this isn't the end of their fight to keep the space:

"We know there are precedents set. North Northamptonshire Council have set aside an area in Oundle, with a similar situation. Our plan is to investigate that.

"Whatever happens now though, things could change with a rethink and a new decision, perhaps if they were to get a bit strapped for cash possibly.

"Taking this into account our plan is to future proof the field, which has been used for a range of recreational activities."

West Northants council say they've listened to views, and have decided to remove the Eastern Way scheme from their 'Daventry Masterplan' which will be finalised later this year.
