This International Women's Day, women in Northamptonshire are invited to channel their emotions through the Fem Rage Paint Sesh at Delapré Abbey combining creative expression with community empowerment.

Today's event, hosted by artist Natalie Wells, Sophie Krywald of The Sweat and Glow Club, and social enterprise ICENA, offers a cathartic space for women to embrace rage and creativity outdoors.

Kat Hymas, Head of Training and Consultancy at ICENA, described Fem Rage as a movement for women to express emotions freely, saying, "Femme Rage is a creative empowerment movement that gives women a safer space to kind of express, release and reconnect with their power.

The event blends rage therapy with guided journaling and community-driven activities, aiming to leave participants feeling grounded, inspired, and unapologetic.

''We really want a space where it's about celebrating, but also being able to unleash that rage.''

Funds raised during the event will support ICENA's mission to fund vital services for survivors of sexual violence. Kat emphasized the organization's commitment to reinvesting profits into survivor-led services, ensuring those affected receive necessary support.

Addressing this year's International Women's Day theme, "Give to Gain," Hymas shared that the idea aligns closely with ICENA's guiding principle. “Every single project we do, every single event that we collaborate on is ensuring that survivors get access to that support that they need and deserve,” she explained.

Hymas expressed the importance of rage as a transformative force, stating, "Rage is so important. It's the power, it's what makes change, it's what makes us transform."

To create a supportive environment, the Fem Rage Paint Sesh invites women to come as they are, with Hymas encouraging participants to express themselves fully. The event provides space for a range of emotions, from rage to joy and pain, promoting community solidarity.

She continued to share her excitement for the event, noting the significance of women coming together to promote gender equality. She said: “We cannot fight and continue to fight the hatred and division and the misogyny without community and collective action.

''We hope every participant leaves feeling grounded, inspired and, most importantly, unapologetically themselves.”
