Daventry MP meets Anglian Water bosses
It's after recent supply issues
Stuart Andrew MP has met senior representatives from Anglian Water, after recent water supply disruptions affecting residents in East Farndon, Clipston, Arthingworth and Great Oxendon, as well as ongoing concerns raised by residents in Upper Boddington and Eydon.
The meeting was arranged after the MP received representations from residents and parish councils, including East Farndon Parish Council, regarding the impact of the outages. Concerns raised included loss of water supplies, difficulties accessing bottled water, support for vulnerable customers and poor communication during the disruption.
During the meeting, Stuart challenged Anglian Water on its handling of the incidents and sought assurances that improvements would be made, to prevent similar issues in the future.
Anglian Water acknowledged that communications with customers and bottled water distribution were not good enough and accepted that improvements are needed. The company also outlined plans for investment to improve resilience within the local network.
Stuart also raised concerns about Upper Boddington and Eydon, where residents and parish councils have reported repeated water-related incidents over several years. Anglian Water acknowledged that the local system is under pressure and that investment is required to improve long-term resilience.
After the meeting, Stuart Andrew MP said: "Many residents were understandably frustrated by what happened and by the difficulties they experienced accessing information, bottled water and support during the disruption. I wanted to ensure Anglian Water heard those concerns directly and was held accountable for its response.
"I welcomed the company's acknowledgement that aspects of its response fell short and I will continue to press Anglian Water to deliver the improvements and investment it has committed to make.
"I also raised the ongoing concerns of residents in Upper Boddington and Eydon, who have experienced repeated issues over a number of years and want to see long-term improvements delivered.
"I am keen to ensure vulnerable residents are aware of the support available to them. I will therefore be writing to residents to raise awareness of Anglian Water's Priority Services Register, which can provide additional assistance during service interruptions for those who may need it."
Stuart will continue to work with residents, parish councils and Anglian Water to monitor progress and ensure local concerns remain at the forefront of discussions.
