A 21-year-old man from Corby has been found guilty of grievous bodily harm and making threats to kill after deliberately knocking a teenager off an e-bike and seriously injuring him.
Alexandros Constantinou, of Torksey Close, stood trial for seven days at Northampton Crown Court.
He had previously admitted failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, and driving without insurance.
The jury found him not guilty of attempted murder.
The court heard how, on the afternoon of 18 September 2025, Constantinou lay in wait for the 18-year-old victim near the shops in Rockingham Road.
He chased after him, driving a hire car into him and knocking him over before running away from the scene, leaving the victim with serious head injuries.
He was later arrested after trying to board a Eurostar train to Amsterdam.
Two weeks before the collision, Constantinou had made threats via Facebook to 'shoot' the victim's mother and 'firebomb' their home.
Detective Constable Emily Owen, investigating, said: “Alexandros Constantinou used his car as a weapon against the victim, and it is more luck than judgement that he was not standing trial for murder.
“After inflicting life-threatening injuries to the teenager, Constantinou only had his own self-preservation in mind, not only did he flee the scene not knowing if he had killed the victim, but he also attempted to leave the country to avoid arrest.
“Tackling serious violence remains a priority for Northamptonshire Police and I am grateful to the jury for returning a guilty verdict and ensuring justice has been served.”
Constantinou will be sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on July 15.
