Officers investigating an incident in which children were threatened at a Northampton playing fields are appealing for information and witnesses.

At around 5.10pm on Wednesday, April 23, a group of children were playing at Briar Hill playing fields, off Ringway, when they were approached by a woman holding a pair of garden shears who threatened to hurt them.

The children all ran away unharmed and the incident was later reported to police. Officers then attended to search the area but did not find the woman.

The woman is described as white, aged 25-30, with dirty blonde hair worn in a ponytail. She was wearing a grey and white dressing gown with pyjama trousers and slippers.

It is believed she was with a brown-haired teenager aged 15-17 who was wearing a white jumper and black leggings, and a white man in his mid-20s, who was wearing a black tracksuit with a white stripe down it.
