People warned against buying chainsaws in Northampton after burglary
Police urge public to stay alert as chainsaws and tree surgery equipment are stolen in Cotterstock burglary
Northamptonshire Police are warning the public against purchasing chainsaws or other tree surgery equipment from unknown sources after a burglary in Cotterstock.
Eight chainsaws from well-known brands, including Makita, Echo, Husqvarna, and Stihl, were stolen, along with climbing ropes, helmets, a Stihl blower, and an Echo hedge cutter.
The theft took place between 9pm on Wednesday, May 7, and 4pm on Thursday, May 8, at a property on Main Road. The offenders accessed the site through a rear gate leading to fields.
Police are urging anyone who may have been offered these items or seen them for sale to report it. Detective Constable James Mitchell stated, "We encourage anyone with information to come forward, as it could be vital to the investigation."
Authorities are also asking for help from anyone who might have noticed any suspicious activity in the area, particularly between the stated times, or anyone who has CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam footage.
