A Cambridgeshire police officer has been dismissed after being found to have lied about her contact with people connected to a serious crime.

The officer, who can only be referred to as PC A after the hearing chair ordered her identity be redacted, was found to have breached the professional standards relating to honesty and integrity, amounting to gross misconduct.

An accelerated misconduct hearing was held at Lysander House on Monday 21st September 2026.

PC A denied the allegations, but the panel found four of them proved on the balance of probabilities.

The hearing was told that before becoming a police officer, PC A had been in a relationship with a man referred to as Person B, whose brother, Person C, was jailed for a serious offence.

Several years later, after joining the police, she reported to Northamptonshire Police that she had been a victim of domestic abuse, saying she had been forced by Person B to conceal the clothing Person C was wearing at the time of the offence.

She was made the subject of Regulation 13 proceedings in 2024, during which she denied having any contact with Person C and said all contact with Person B had ceased in 2019.

The panel found she had misled investigators and senior officers, with phone and Instagram records showing contact she had denied.

The chair said her conduct was "not misremembering, as alleged by her, but the deliberate misleading of a senior police officer in a formal hearing".

Chief Constable Simon Megicks said: "PC A deliberately misled investigators and senior officers during formal proceedings about her associations and contact with individuals linked to a serious crime matter."

He said: "Honesty is fundamental to policing. When an officer fails to uphold those standards it risks undermining public confidence in the police service. The outcome reflects the seriousness with which we treat such conduct."

PC A had resigned from the constabulary on 16th September 2026 but remained a serving officer at the time of the hearing.

She was dismissed without notice and will be placed on the College of Policing's barred list.
