Call for more to foster in 2025 across Northamptonshire
We've been hearing from Northamptonshire Children's Trust
Northamptonshire Children's Trust are encouraging more people to consider becoming a foster carer.
It comes as the service hope to have over 30 in post by April, following successful recruitment campaigns during 2024.
Trust Fostering Service Manager Alasdair Kennedy told us more:
"We're expecting to have 30+ foster carers in post by April.
"There are a lot of myths as to what you need but basically we have just three requirements - You must be over 21, have a spare room, and also live permanently in the UK."
After an open evening held for prospective carers at the Nene Retail Park Northampton just before Christmas, Alasdair says they're planning further activities in the next few months:
"We'd invite anyone interested to come along to one of our sessions. There will be staff there to answer your questions. You can even fill out an application form on the night. I'd welcome anyone to drop us an email or call us on 0300 126 1009.
"There is no age limit and we have carers in their late 70s, and some just 21.
"We have regular drop-in events with activities in the Savoy Theatre Northampton and in the Wellingborough Theatre through January and February, so please look out for them."
