Murder investigation continues in Northampton
Several people who were arrested have been released with no further action
Police investigations into the murder of 20-year-old Mason Miller in Briar Hill, Northampton, are ongoing as four individuals have been released without further action following formal interviews.
Three teenagers aged 17, 17, and 16 were arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 35-year-old man was detained on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have now been eliminated from the enquiries.
However, a 56-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released on police bail pending further investigations.
Three other youths—two aged 15 and one aged 14—were charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. They appeared in Northampton Magistrates’ Court on 21st February and were granted conditional bail, placed under the care of the local authority.
The incident occurred at approximately 3.30pm at the skate park in Ringway on Wednesday afternoon.
A dedicated team of detectives and officers have been engaged in extensive efforts to piece together the events around the time of the attack on Mason.
Their tasks have included house-to-house enquiries and increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance and support to residents.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Matt Bly, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, described the situation as a "fast-moving investigation" with multiple lines of inquiry being pursued.
Bly expressed condolences to Mason's family and noted the family’s request for privacy as they come to terms with the incident.
He urged anyone with information or footage related to the event to contact Northamptonshire Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
