Plans to construct a new housing development comprising 450 homes at the edge of Brackley are set for discussion, set for approval following an upcoming council meeting on 18th August.

Mintondale Developments Ltd submitted the proposal to establish a new neighbourhood beyond Radstone Fields, incorporating public open space and a cemetery on approximately 22 hectares of agricultural land.

Council officers have recommended approval despite receiving 39 objection letters and several comments from local bodies, including Brackley Town Council, Radstone Parish Meeting, and the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE).

The strategic planning committee of West Northamptonshire Council will deliberate the scheme's merits and drawbacks before reaching a decision.

The residential plan promises 40 per cent affordable housing and provisions for a cemetery, temporary allotments, play areas, and other public spaces.

Access to the new site would be facilitated by roundabouts on Halse Road, with another entrance from the Radstone Fields development on Miranda Lane.

However, there are concerns regarding road access and increased traffic pressure due to existing HS2 construction, though WNC Highways has not objected.

Local objections cite oversubscribed amenities and potential harm to the countryside from new developments without perceived community benefit.

Critics express worry over infrastructure inadequacies and prioritisation of construction over resident needs.

Despite reservations, the officer’s report argues that the benefits of boosting housing supply outweigh the adverse impacts.

The meeting's outcome will influence Brackley's future development and address community concerns with upcoming construction plans.
