Corby cyclist seriously injured as police launch attempted murder investigation
Four people were arrested after the incident, and an 18-year-old remains in a serious condition
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old cyclist was left with serious injuries following a collision in Corby.
The incident happened at around 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday, 18th September) on the service road behind shops in Rockingham Road, between Butterwick Bakery and Mini Sam. A black BYD car collided with the rider of an electric-powered bike and a CCTV mast.
The rider, a local teenager, was airlifted to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
Arrests made
Northamptonshire Police confirmed that four people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Two men, both aged 34, and a 40-year-old woman, all from Corby, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A 37-year-old man, also from Corby, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assaulting an emergency worker. All four remain in custody.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detectives are now urging anyone who saw either the bike or the car in the Rockingham Road area before the collision, or who witnessed the incident itself, to come forward.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, doorbell, dash-cam, or mobile phone footage that may help the investigation.
