A14 eastbound closed in Northamptonshire after serious collisions
Drivers face delays following traffic incidents between the M6/M1 and J2
The eastbound carriageway of the A14 in Northamptonshire is currently closed following two separate serious collisions that occurred this morning (Tuesday 26th January 2026).
The closure spans between the M6/M1 Catthorpe Interchange and Junction 2 near Kelmarsh. Emergency services, including Northamptonshire Police, are at the scene, and National Highways Traffic Officers are managing traffic flow in the area.
Drivers are advised to expect delays and follow diversion routes to avoid the affected stretch of road.
Diversion Routes:
For M6 southbound/eastbound traffic:
Drivers should use the left-hand side free-flow lanes on M6-M1 Link to merge onto the M1 southbound, continuing for approximately 4km.
For M1 southbound traffic:
Those heading southbound should remain on the M1 past J19 and continue until J15, a distance of approximately 33km. From J15, take the A45 north/eastbound and rejoin the A14 at the Thrapston interchange (J13), which is roughly 39km away.
M1 northbound traffic is also advised to leave the M1 at J15 and follow the A45 to the Thrapston interchange.
