RAF training jet crashes on Anglesey

Two pilots are being treated for minor injuries after a RAF training aircraft came down in the Pencarnisiog area of Anglesey.

We understand it's a Hawk jet that has crashed at RAF Valley. The base there is where fighter pilots are trained.

The aircraft reportedly experienced issues shortly after take off, with witnesses describing huge plumes of smoke and flames.

The crew members successfully ejected and are said to have minor injuries.

Local officers, along with personnel from the Royal Air Force, North Wales Fire and Rescue Services, Welsh Ambulance Service University Health Trust, and Helimed, are currently at the site.

A Royal Air Force spokesperson said: “An incident involving an RAF T2 Hawk aircraft, flying out of RAF Valley, occurred near Anglesey.

“An investigation is under way and we will not comment further at this time.”

Authorities are advising the public to avoid the area until further notice.
