North East teenager with leukaemia going to watch Sunderland at Wembley
His mum tells us he has been given VIP tickets to attend through the EFL
A North East mum, whose son is recovering from leukaemia, tells us he is heading down to Wembley to watch the Sunderland match.
14-year-old Regan Carter has been given VIP tickets to attend through the EFL.
Leanne Smith, his mum, said: "My youngest son is going and he’s just recovering from leukaemia, so I hope they come home with a win for him.
"He was given three days to live two years ago. He's been given VIP tickets to attend through the EFL. He’s having a stadium tour and everything.
"I really want them to come home with a win, if for anybody just for him.
"He’s on cloud 9, he can't wait. He's very excited about it because he was in RVI for 10-months having a stem cell transplant, so it’s his first time of being able to go away from Sunderland.
"We had to get pre-authorisation from the RVI for him to go. His older brother, who was sixteen at the time, gave his stem cells to save his life."
