Students across the North East will be receiving their A-level results this morning.

They are being urged to stay calm and remember that if things do not go to plan - it is not the end of the world as not everyone's pathway is linear.

Ashleigh Little, head of home student recruitment at Sunderland University, said: "Make sure you've done your research on the institutions that you would like to call should you need to.

"Have your results and qualifications ready should you need to and your UCAS numbers to start calling.

"But it’s also really important to stay calm."

She continued to say: "clearing is really simple. It may feel really daunting.

"Our University of Sunderland clearing lines are open from 8:00 AM till 7:00 PM on results day.

"So, you've got a long time to research and then give us a call, and we will go above and beyond to make sure that that it's a positive experience."
