A drug driver has been sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison for causing the death of his brother and nephew in South Shields.

The 35-year-old admitted causing death by dangerous driving while over the limit for cocaine.

Michael Webb crashed a Skoda Octavia in August last year, killing 40-year-old Peter and his 12-year-old son Ben.

Webb was also disqualified from driving for 15 years and 5 months.

The one-vehicle collision happened on John Reid Road shortly before 9pm - while he was high on cocaine.

In a statement the family say "Peter was a kind, wonderful human who would do anything for his family.

And Ben was the most incredible ray of sunshine with an unbelievable sense of humour."
