People across the North East and Teesside are being urged to reduce their alcohol intake as part of their New Year's resolution.

Mum-of-three Sarah from Durham tells us how she got her life back when she cut out alcohol on New Years Day in 2022.

She is now calling on anyone who thinks that alcohol is having a negative impact on their life to consider cutting it out.

Sarah said: "I used alcohol as a coping mechanism and it just continued throughout my life. In covid is when it escalated. I lost both my grandparents and it just got really on top of us.

She says there is nothing in her life that has not improved since going sober.

Sarah said: "I bought a house, got married, got promoted at work, I go on holidays now, take my kids travelling the world.

"It's just all of those things that I suppose you don't even realise is impacted by drinking."
