Scam Fender is set to kick off the derby day action at NX Newcastle’s huge indoor fanzone as North East football’s fiercest rivals lock horns for the first time this season.
Sunderland welcome Newcastle United on December 14 as Eddie Howe’s Magpies look to deliver the perfect early Christmas present to the Toon Army faithful.
And those fans without tickets for the Wear-Tyne showdown needn’t worry as the viral Sam Fender tribute act and the city’s leading music venue join forces to deliver the next best thing.
Doors open at noon on derby day for the 18-plus event with host Matty - from Black And White Banter - joined on stage by Jon Corbett and David Welsh of The National Anthems to whip the Geordie masses into a frenzy.
Scam Fender will belt out their namesake’s best-loved North Shields anthems along with highlights from a bulging back catalogue of fan favourite covers before the big screen action gets underway.
And the band said: “This will be off the scale and we can’t wait to play our part in what we hope will be a brilliant day out for black and whites everywhere.
“We know NX will be bouncing and we’ll do our best to get the party started before Eddie, Big Dan Burn and the boys bring home the three points.”
