Woman left with serious injuries following collision in North Tyneside
A woman on a bicycle became stuck underneath a Range Rover and was rushed to hospital
Officers appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was left with serious injuries following a collision in North Tyneside.
Just before 9am yesterday (December 12), emergency services received a report of a collision on Front Street in Monkseaton.
It was reported that a woman was on a bicycle travelling east when she was struck by a blue Range Rover Evoque.
The Ranger Rover is reported to have been travelling west having turned right onto Front Street from Percy Terrace.
The woman became stuck underneath the Range Rover as it then travelled along the road before the vehicle stopped shortly after.
Emergency services attended and the woman – who is in her 30s – was found to have sustained serious injuries in the incident.
She was taken to hospital for treatment where she remains in a stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries.
Northumbria Police’s Roads Policing Unit (RPU) is investigating the incident and officers are now appealing to any witnesses to the moments leading up to the collision to contact them.
