Youth organisations across Newcastle are being invited to apply for a share of up to £500,000 in funding to support projects that empower and uplift young people in the city.

Now in its fifth year, the Newcastle Youth Fund, a partnership between Newcastle City Council and The National Lottery Community Fund, continues to champion a youth-led approach to funding. Since its launch in 2021, the fund has distributed more than £2 million to grassroots initiatives that provide vital support and opportunities for young people.

The fund is open to not-for-profit organisations working with:

• Young people aged 13 to 19

• Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) up to the age of 25

What sets the Newcastle Youth Fund apart is its youth panel, a group of local young people who play a central role in reviewing applications, selecting successful projects, and conducting monitoring visits to see the impact of the funding first-hand.

Cllr Lesley Storey, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Newcastle City Council, said:

“It’s fantastic to see the Newcastle Youth Fund return for a fifth year. Because it’s led by young people, it ensures that the services being funded are truly reflective of what they want and need in their communities. We’re committed to growing youth provision across the city and encourage all eligible organisations to apply.”

Duncan Nicholson, Regional Head of Funding for the North East and Cumbria at The National Lottery Community Fund, added: “Thanks to national lottery players we are delighted to be able to support Newcastle Youth Fund and their work with young people. It is particularly pleasing to see young people involved in the decision making as to where funds go. The National Lottery Community Fund is committed to working in partnerships with others and ensuring funds are directed to where they are most needed. The Newcastle Youth Fund is a wonderful example of collaboration and engagement with the sector.”

Organisations can apply for grants ranging from £10,001 to £25,000 to deliver 12-month projects starting from 1 April 2026.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 11 July.
