Newcastle-born musician Charlie Floyd has today (7th March) released his eagerly anticipated debut single, ‘Do It Again’, marking the start of what promises to be a breakthrough year for the rising North East artist.

Blending guitar-driven indie-pop with sharp songwriting and a nostalgic edge, ‘Do It Again’ offers a first glimpse into Floyd’s distinctive sound — a sound shaped by his roots in Newcastle’s music scene, and refined through years of honing his craft both locally and beyond.

The track, which was written and recorded in Floyd’s home studio in Newcastle, captures the excitement and energy of chasing unforgettable moments — those nights out, road trips and festivals that feel too good to leave behind. To bring the track to its fullest potential, Floyd teamed up with acclaimed producer Charlie Russell (known for his work with Kasabian, Liam Gallagher, and Jake Bugg) at London’s Dean Street Studios, ensuring the final product stayed true to its authentic, homegrown beginnings.

“A lot of this song came together in my bedroom the night I wrote it,” says Floyd. “Even when we took it into the studio in London, we kept some of those original takes in the final version because they just had the right energy.”

A Major Year Ahead for the Geordie Talent

‘Do It Again’ is just the start for Floyd, who is set for a busy 2025, with a series of high-profile live appearances lined up — including a hometown headline show at Think Tank on 12th April and a career-defining support slot for pop icon Robbie Williams at Newcastle’s Come Together Festival in June.

Speaking about the opportunity to support Robbie Williams on home turf, Floyd says: “It’s absolutely surreal. To go from writing songs in my bedroom to playing alongside someone like Robbie, and doing it right here in Newcastle, is a dream come true. I can’t wait.”

Alongside the headline show and festival appearances, Floyd is also working on his debut EP, which is expected later this year. The EP will further develop his signature blend of indie energy, groove-led melodies and honest storytelling, cementing him as one to watch both in the North East and on the national stage.

From Newcastle to the World

With his roots firmly in the North East, Floyd is passionate about flying the flag for local talent. “Newcastle has shaped me, no doubt,” he says. “The gigs I’ve seen here, the venues I’ve played, the artists I’ve grown up around – they’ve all played a part in my sound. Whatever happens next, the North East will always be home.”

‘Do It Again’ is available to stream now on all major platforms.
