A man has died following a collision in Brandon.

Police were called just before 4.45pm on Friday (9 January) to a collision involving a van and a pedestrian on Sawmills Lane.

The pedestrian - 60-year-old Paul Smith, of The Orchards - suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, for treatment.

Sadly, he died in hospital yesterday (10 January) as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the van - a white Citroen Dispatch - was uninjured.

Officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage that could assist their enquiries.
