Newcastle singer says 'The Come Together Festival' will have a huge impact on the region
It will be the largest outdoor music event the North East has ever seen
A Newcastle artist tells us how the North East’s largest-ever music festival is set to put the region on the map.
The five day 'Come Together Festival' is taking place on Newcastle's Town Moor in June this summer.
Newcastle singer - Andrew Cushin - is one of the music artists taking centre stage at the festival.
He explains how it feels to be performing in front of a home audience.
He said: "For the past four or five years, I think we've averaged about 130 shows a year. I've been touring America, Europe, UK and it's been absolutely amazing. But with that comes the fact that you only ever get to play in Newcastle maybe once or twice a year, so it's something that I never ever take for granted.
"It’s really championing local talent and North East talent. I think it's amazing having people like me and various other local artists. I think it's great for the area. We're going to have people travelling in from other cities, hopefully other countries, and hopefully they really get to see what the North East has to offer.
"My biggest reward, obviously to me, isn't to share the bill with the likes of Robbie and the Kaiser Chiefs, but my biggest reward for all this is playing in front of another Newcastle crowd. That's something that I live for. If it wasn't for Newcastle and the support of my home city, I wouldn't be able to do this for a job. I wouldn't be able to do this for a livelihood."
