CBBC and panto star Danny Adams is bringing back his potentially-lethal knife-throwing trick for his upcoming North East circus residency – because of a potential hosepipe ban.

Danny, his dad Clive and brother Mick had originally planned to stage a ‘Houdini Escape’ – where Danny would free himself from manacles while trapped underwater.

But the fear of the North East coming under a hosepipe ban – which has happened in at least four counties – has meant the region’s favourite slapstick performers have had to delve into their archive for a replacement routine.

Danny said: “We couldn’t risk going ahead with the Houdini Escape and then not being allowed to use water – me escaping while trapped in fresh air doesn’t quite have the same appeal does it?

“So, we’ve resurrected our old knife-throwing routine to replace it, if I can remember how to do it!" I’m sure there won’t be any serious injuries. Not like last time. Lightning won’t strike twice, will it? I’m sure there won’t be any acciderrrrrnts.”

Cirque Du Hilarious is running for its longest EVER North East stint this summer: It will appear for the first time in South Shields – at Gypsies Green from July 22 – August 2 – before heading to Wallsend Rugby Club from August 6-31.
