Newcastle businesses reaping the rewards of sunshine weather
They explain how weather is a main factor that impacts city centre footfall
Newcastle's business improvement district tells us how the North East is reaping the rewards of the sunshine weather over the summer.
They say the nice weather helps boost the local economy and increases tourism in the region.
Ben Whitfield, Director of Communications at NE1, said: "We've certainly seen in terms of attendance for our events that mainly take place outside, so always at the whims of the weather, have really stellar attendance throughout the year.
"Businesses feel very positive and all in all the city feels like it's in a really good place.
"If you go to a play park, you buy an ice cream. If you come to the city, you might buy lunch or a coffee or nip into a store nearby.
"That's part of the reason why we're so keen to put on events.
"We want to bring people into the city to make it a full day experience where people can enjoy the event itself but also what the city provides."
