A grieving family have paid tribute to a man who died in a motorcycle crash in Weston Longville.

Brett Germing, aged 53, was found dead at the scene on Weston Hall Road on the afternoon of Saturday 12 July. Emergency services had been called at around 3.45pm to reports of fallen branches in the road, but discovered Brett and his black Voge motorcycle in the undergrowth near the junction with Lyng Easthaugh Road.

Paramedics and an air ambulance team attended, but Brett was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement released through Norfolk Police, his family said: “We would like to express our devastation of the loss of Brett Germing. Brett was a loving husband, Dad, Brother, Uncle, cousin, and a great friend. He always had a smile on his face and touched so many lives – he will be greatly missed.”

Police say the motorcycle left the road and ended up among branches off the carriageway. The road was closed for several hours while collision investigators examined the scene and recovery work was carried out, reopening at around 1.30am the next day.

Officers are continuing to investigate what happened and have asked anyone who saw the crash, saw Brett riding beforehand, or had any involvement with the fallen branches to come forward. Dashcam footage from the area at the time may also help with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Norfolk Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
