Police appeal for witnesses after serious collision in Wacton
Teenager injured in fail-to-stop incident
Police are seeking witnesses following a serious incident on Ipswich Road, Wacton.
The collision occurred around 6pm on Thursday, 30th July, involving a turquoise Renault HGV and a blue SYM Orbit moped.
Emergency services, including an ambulance and air ambulance, responded as the road was closed.
The teenage moped rider was severely injured and airlifted to Addenbrookes hospital, where his condition remains serious.
The HGV driver, a man in his twenties, failed to stop at the scene and was apprehended in Seaham, Durham the following day.
He was remanded into custody at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.
Ben Laflin, aged 22, from Aldham, Ipswich, faces charges for causing serious injury by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, and failing to stop after an accident.
Laflin is set to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court today, 3rd August 2026.
The road reopened around 2.40am.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
