The trial of a man accused of murdering an 86-year-old woman in Wisbech is due to start today.

Una Crown was found in a pool of blood at her home in Magazine Lane on January 13, 2013.

Mrs Crown's death was initially treated as an accident, before a murder investigation was launched days later.

Cambridgeshire Police said a post-mortem examination showed Mrs Crown died from stab wounds to her neck and chest.

David Newton, of Magazine Close in Wisbech, was arrested in April 2024 and entered a not guilty plea at Cambridge Crown Court last May.

A trial at the same court is estimated to last for four weeks.
