Party escalates to violence prompting police intervention
Police arrested six teenagers after a chaotic scene unfolded in Cobholm on Sunday night.
Officers responded to reports of a large group of teenagers fighting on Stone Road at 8.20pm, outside a property.
Among those arrested were four boys, aged 15, 16, 17, and 17, for a Section 5 Public Order Offence.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested for a Section 2 Public Order Offence, and a 16-year-old girl for assaulting an emergency worker.
All six are being held for questioning at the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre.
Police Measures and Community Impact
Inspector Simon Fisk expressed understanding of community concerns: “We understand this would have been a worrying evening for people in the local community.”
The disturbance resulted from a party that got out of hand, prompting the police to enact a Section 34 notice.
While most attendees dispersed, a few failed to comply, leading to violent behaviour and objects thrown at officers.
Police employed various tactics to control the disorder and ensure safety, including the use of PAVA spray as trained.
The Section 34 notice directs those engaging or potentially engaging in anti-social behaviour to vacate the area from 8.35pm on 9th August to 6.35am on 10th August 2026.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident while emphasising community safety.
