Norwich City can confirm that Borja Sainz has completed a permanent transfer to Portuguese club FC Porto for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old signed for City on a free transfer from Giresunspor ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, going on to play 82 times for the club, scoring 27 goals.

Throughout last season, Sainz scored 18 times in 41 Sky Bet Championship appearances, finishing just one goal behind the league's top scorer. His performances earned him a spot in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.

Porto finished third in last season's Primeira Liga, securing qualification to the UEFA Europa League.

Sporting director Ben Knapper said: “Firstly, we’re all delighted for Borja on what is a fantastic and exciting step for him. During his time with us, his performances and impact have been brilliant, and we thank him immensely for his contribution to our club. He gave us all many memorable moments, scored some spectacular goals and was often the deciding factor in many of our games. This is a fantastic move for all parties, with Borja now progressing onto the next stage of his career with a top European club in FC Porto. It also demonstrates once again our ability to identify and develop players for the highest levels of the game, and everyone involved deserves huge credit for their work. We will follow his progress closely and he leaves with the very best wishes of everyone at Norwich City.”
