Royal Norfolk Show organisers assure safety for all amid rising temperatures
Precautions are in place for visitors and animals alike throughout the day
Organisers of the Royal Norfolk Show assure visitors that keeping everyone safe in the heat, including the animals, is at the top of their priorities.
A red weather warning is set to be issued for the first day of the show (24th June).
CEO of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, Mark Nicholas, said:
"There is no reason not to come to this year's Royal Norfolk Show and I'd like to reassure everybody that we have human and animal welfare right at the top of our priorities for consideration."
Free water filling stations will be located throughout the 150 acre site, so visitors are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle.
The Big C, a charity supporting people effected by Cancer in Norfolk, will also be handing out free sun cream throughout the day.
Mark also highlighted what the team at the Norfolk Show are doing to ensure the 3000 animals at the show are also kept cool and safe:
"We're working very closely with our team of 6 vets who will be here on site for the duration of the show,
We have got some of the best animal welfare specialists in the UK to make sure that the welfare of animals is maintained at all times."
Extra measures will include, greater provision of water, from drinking water for animals to water to cool down animals. As well as making good use of shade and structures.
Organisers have also said they are prepared to reschedule some classes and events, so they can take part at a cooler time of day.
Visitors are also encouraged to plan their days carefully, allowing plenty of time to get to the show ground, and considering the heat:
"Look at the show programmes, decide whether you want to come in the morning or a little bit later in the day. Don't forget the show programme goes on until 8pm in the evenings" Mark said.
