Wisbech paedophile jailed for sending sexual messages to undercover officer
Michael Richardson believed he was communicating with a 12-year-old girl
A 49-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for sending sexual messages to an undercover officer posing as a 12-year-old girl.
Michael Richardson initiated contact with the officer on 28th January through Kik, a social networking app.
Richardson requested that 'she' perform inappropriate acts and asked for a photo to 'make a video.'
He was detained at his Money Bank home in Wisbech on 28th March, where officers discovered his phone contained 48 indecent images of children.
Richardson appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on 3rd August, pleading guilty to multiple charges including making indecent images of children and attempted sexual communication with a child.
He has been placed under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
Detective Sergeant Julia Boon emphasised the gravity of Richardson's offences and lauded the result of the case, stating: "Richardson is clearly a danger to children, so I’m pleased he’s been brought to justice and given a sentence that reflects the severity of his offences.
“We will continue to do everything we can to arrest those who abuse or intend to abuse vulnerable people and put them before the courts."
