Norwich to welcome Paddington in bear-y special visit
Will you be paying the marmalade loving bear a visit?
Paddington Bear will soon be paying a visit to Norwich.
Our city will become home to a new statue of the duffel-coat-wearing bear, as part of a UK-wide trail.
Norwich was chosen by organisers, following votes from across the UK and Ireland, with organisers of 'Paddington Visits' saying it beat out over 90 towns and cities vying to host the marmalade sandwich loving bear.
They noted its community spirit and rich storytelling tradition, highlighting Norwich’s cherished reputation as the 'City of Stories.’
Dressed in his signature red hat, blue duffle coat, and clutching a marmalade sandwich, Paddington will make his grand appearance in time for February’s school half-term.
Stefan Gurney, Executive Director, Norwich Business Improvement District, said: “Norwich is a city with a fiercely loyal community of people who are proud of its historic and contemporary story and its friendliness.
"We called on members of the community to enter the competition and we’re delighted by the incredible enthusiasm it sparked!
“Norwich is a city bursting with adventurous places for a little bear to discover as well as some amazing local food and drink. We look forward to welcoming Paddington as one of our newest residents.”
