Six individuals are expected to deny charges related to an alleged break-in at a drone factory affiliated with Elbit Systems UK.

The group, comprising three men and three women, reportedly used a van to ram into UAV Tactical Systems' premises in Braunstone, near Leicester, during the early hours of 24th April.

A video shared online allegedly showed damage to ceiling tiles splattered with red paint.

Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands and Leicestershire Police launched an investigation following the incident.

The defendants face charges of burglary with intent to commit damage and causing over £5,000 of criminal damage.

During an Old Bailey hearing, prosecutor Ben Lloyd detailed the allegations, stating: “The charges relate to April 24 this year, in the early hours of that morning, when the six defendants forced entry to UAV Tactical Systems’ premises in Leicester.”

Mr. Lloyd explained that UAV Tactical Systems is a subsidiary of Israel-based defence company Elbit Systems UK, noting that the factory was perceived to have links with the supply of arms and components used by Israel in attacks on Palestine.

Significant damage was caused when a vehicle, power tools, red paint, and ceiling tiles were used during the break-in.

A social media post following the incident claimed responsibility by a group called People Against Genocide, the court heard.

Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb has scheduled a plea hearing for 7th August, with a provisional trial date set for 17th May next year at Leicester Crown Court.

The defendants are poised to plead not guilty.

Those charged include Peter Jones, 41, of Alderfen Way, Hoveton, Norwich; Michael Sackur, 28, of Maltings Place, Reading; Megan Kennard, 25, of Fircroft Avenue, Lancing, West Sussex; Seirol Davies, 31, and Rhae Rivers, 39, both of Godwin Road, Margate, Kent; and Hal Hockney, 27, of Alkham Road, Hackney, London.

Sackur and Davies appeared via video link from custody, while their co-defendants were on conditional bail, appearing in the dock.

Earlier this year, Elbit Systems UK announced the acquisition of UAV Tactical Systems, providing uncrewed aerial systems, commonly known as drones.
